40 Daily prayers at the Western Wall

The Western Wall is one of the four retaining walls that surrounded the Temple Mount at the end of the Second Temple Period.

It is a place of great holiness. Jewish tradition states that God’s Divine Presence has never withdrawn from the Western Wall,  and praying there for 40 consecutive days, or having someone pray on your behalf at the Wall, is known to bring miracles. In accordance with a prevalent custom, a note with your specific prayer will be inserted into one of the hollows of the wall, as well, when you purchase this prayer package.

Although only Jewish services are held here publicly, people of all religions come to pray at the wall. The ancient Jews brought sacrifices to the Temple, and study and prayer were conducted there as well. As noted in the Bible, Jesus was a frequent visitor to the Temple, and this is where he challenged the local authorities, a move that eventually led to his arrest and execution. It is a popular practice to place a note with a specific request in one of the crevices between the stones of the Western Wall. Many religious figures have placed notes in the Wall, including Pope John Paul II, as well as many celebrities and heads of state. Over a million notes are placed in the wall each year, and twice a year the rabbi of the Western Wall collects these notes and buries them in a dedicated area of the Mount of Olives cemetery. In accordance with the prevalent custom, a note with your specific prayer will be inserted into one of the hollows of the wall, as well, when you purchase this prayer package.
